“For Years, My Son and Daughter-in-Law Barely Spoke to Me. But Suddenly, They Became Loving and Caring, Even Insisting on Moving Into My House. I Was Happy, but Their Sudden Change Made Me Suspicious. Then One Morning, I Saw My Daughter-in-Law Putting Something Into My Glass of Water. I Pretended Not to Notice and Took the Glass to a Laboratory. When the Results Came Back, the Doctor Looked at Me With a Terrified Expression and Said, ‘Ma’am, You Need to Hear This…’ What He Told Me Made My Blood Run Cold…”

“Where did you get this?” she whispered.

“From the water you gave me yesterday.”

She covered her mouth.

Daniel stared at her.

“Rebecca, what did you put in Mom’s water?”

“Just a supplement!” she cried. “She kept saying she felt weak. A friend recommended it. I thought it would help.”

“You thought secretly putting something in my drink would help me?” I demanded.

“I was afraid you’d refuse. I didn’t know it could interfere with your medication!”

“Then why didn’t you ask my doctor?”

She couldn’t answer.

Daniel looked genuinely horrified.

“I didn’t know about this, Mom. I swear.”

I wanted to believe him.

But something was still wrong.

“Then tell me why you really moved here,” I said.

Daniel went silent.

“Why did you suddenly become the loving son I had been waiting twenty years to see? Why are you interested in my savings? And who were you promising money to on the phone?”
