A 68-Year-Old Woman Adopted a Little Girl After Five Families Turned Her Away—But What Her Adoption Lawyer Revealed in a Folder Changed Everything.

“You need to contact the agency.”

“Nobody listens to me!”

He stepped closer.

I moved toward the school entrance.

“Please keep your distance.”

His expression hardened.

“She’s my brother’s daughter. She’s all I’ve got left of him.”

“If you cared about her, you wouldn’t have threatened the families trying to give her a home.”

“They were taking her away from her family!”

“They were trying to give her a safe home.”

Then he looked at me and said something that hurt more than I expected.

“You’re almost 70. What happens when you die?”

I’d asked myself that question many times.

But I answered firmly.

“I’ve made plans for Lily. And you will not be picking her up from this school.”

When he moved toward the entrance, I went inside, alerted the receptionist, and called the police.

Victor remained outside, shouting that he had a right to see Lily.
