I woke up in our Thailand hotel and discovered my husband and his family had disappeared. They took my phone, stole my passport, and even canceled my flight home. The only thing my husband left behind was a note: “You’re on your own. Figure it out.”

4:50 a.m. checkout.

Passport missing.

Phone missing.

Maya gone.

Return ticket canceled the previous afternoon.

Evelyn’s note.

Blue Lantern.

When I finished, I looked at the page and realized something important.

Julian had counted on panic making me disorganized.

He had expected fear to erase details.

But details were the one thing I had spent my entire career learning how to preserve.

And now those details were already working against him.

I called Martin from the secure phone.

He answered immediately.

“Nora.”

“What’s happening?”

“The legal framework is moving. Family-law counsel has been contacted. The hotel is preserving records. There will be officials waiting when Julian reaches Los Angeles.”

My heart started pounding.

“And Maya?”

“She is the priority.”

Then Martin added, “We also have hotel security footage.”

I sat straighter.

“What does it show?”

“Julian accessing your belongings before checkout. It also captures him leaving with Maya. The airline has preserved the cancellation record.”
