“My husband just told the world that I died at sea.”
I held up the communicator.
“He forgot one thing.”
I pressed PLAY.
His own voice filled the ballroom.
“Tonight. One little push. The ocean will handle everything else.”
Gasps erupted throughout the room.
Then came the recording about my inheritance.
My parents.
The forged documents.
The women they had targeted.
The offshore accounts.
The entire ballroom exploded into chaos.
Federal agents entered from every entrance.
Lucas finally found his voice.
“This is a setup!”
An agent grabbed his wrists.
“You have the right to remain silent.”
Gertrude screamed.
Roderick tried to run.
Marcus lunged toward the side exit.
None of them made it.
Lucas looked at me as they dragged him away.
“You don’t understand!”
I stared back.
“No.”
I shook my head.
“You don’t understand.”
“You married the wrong woman.”
But the arrests were only the beginning.
