I stared at my real name on the screen until the letters blurred.
My city.
My age.
And the photos I had sent only to Adam.
With shaking hands, I wrote:
“Delete them. Now.”
He replied almost immediately.
“Margaret, calm down.”
“You promised me they were private.”
After a pause, he answered:
“I never promised anything.”
That sentence broke something inside me.
For months, he had told me I was beautiful, special, desirable.
Now I finally understood.
He had never cared about me.
He had simply learned exactly what I was afraid of losing — the feeling that someone still wanted me.
That same afternoon, I received a message from a woman named Linda.
“Please don’t block me. I think Adam did the same thing to me.”
She sent screenshots.
The same compliments.

The same phrases.
The same requests for more photos.
Linda was 64 and widowed.
Then she told me there were other women too.
