A Man Took the Accessible Seats I Bought with My Last Savings for My Son in a Wheelchair – Then a Quiet Elderly Woman Taught Him a Lesson

“So did we.”

“No. You bought seats somewhere else.”

He leaned back.

“I’m not starting anything. We bought these seats.”

“The view here is better.”

I stared at him.

“The view?”

“Listen, I’ve had season tickets for fifteen years! I’ve spent enough money in this place to buy half the stadium. I’m not giving up this view of Hayes’s last home game. Somebody can find your kid another spot.”

“The view here is better.”

“These are the seats he can use!”

The man looked directly at him.

“There’s plenty of room on the concourse. He can watch from there.”

Caleb’s fingers tightened around the wheel rims.

The man added, “I doubt he even understands what’s happening on the field anyway.”

His wife smiled.

“These are the seats he can use!”

Caleb hung his head.

“I do,” he breathed. “I wasn’t always like this.”

And that’s when I snapped.

“You need to get out of his seat,” I said.
