“Who is this?”
His face turned pale.
And then he said the words that changed everything.
“Mom… this is the person who told me never to come back.”
I stared at the photograph.
My hands were shaking.
“Why?”
Marcus took a deep breath.
“Because if I came home…”
He looked directly into my eyes.
“…they knew I would tell you the truth.”
A cold silence filled the room.
Ten years of unanswered questions.
Ten years of loneliness.
Ten years of thinking my son had forgotten me.
